Damour
Six hundred rovers from “Les Scouts du Liban” planted 1,500 native trees and 1,500 seeds with Jouzour Loubnan during an all-day-long plantation activity entitled “Sow on Good Soil.”
The plantation site had already been divided into eight plots in which each group will be planting.
Jouzour Loubnan team started by welcoming the scouts and all the participants and by raising awareness on the vital role played by forests in Lebanon and the threats of desertification. They also explained what was the NGO’s mission, highlight its achievements, and explain why are we planting in Damour and where the specificities of this region and the soil. This quick brief was followed by training on the best practices to plant trees and how to ensure their survival. Our members and team of volunteers also provided the trees which varied between Pine, Carob, and other native trees. Four hours later, the group accomplished its mission planting all trees and seeds provided to them.
This initiative falls under a larger plantation campaign of 60,000 trees to be planted and protected within this site in collaboration with the municipality of Damour.
